This big nasty Merriam's longbeard was taken by Chris Hutsell
and Scott Klettke on April 16, 2005.
Story: The location was Mica Peak on the south side of Spokane
WA. Chris's mother owns a home in the area. Chris and Scott
where visiting at the house when they spotted a lone gobbler
in an adjacent field. They suited up and set up on the trees
visible in the background of the first picture, only 30 yds
from the house. Chris was the designated shooter and Scott
was doing the calling with one of my long boxes. They got
the big boy fired up and eventually dropped him at 40 yds.
This was a nice bird for Chris's first turkey. He will find
out in years to come that it ain't always that easy.
Scott Klettke, a Spokane Valley firefighter and Chris Hutsell
of Moses Lake, WA.
